Louise Smith is an acting headteacher of a small rural primary school in the UK, part of a multi-academy trust (MAT) of 12 schools, leading early years across 11 settings. She moved to a Norfolk infant school to focus on EYFS. She is passionate about using technology to enhance active, play-based learning and recording children’s development. She is a former nursery/preschool manager, adult literacy teacher, and conference presenter at UEA, with a strong commitment to ensuring children’s voices are heard in their own education.

This session explores how Seesaw supports active, child-led learning in Reception, developing independence and intrinsic motivation. Attendees will gain practical strategies for embedding technology, using Seesaw for pupil-led evidence (photos, videos, audio), fostering independence through flexible tasks, nurturing engagement, and using digital recordings to support reflection, assessment, and meaningful learning outcomes.
